The University of North Texas has received notice that its licensed technology to InspectIR Systems, of Frisco, Texas, has been granted Food and Drug Administration Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for use as a breathalyzer detection for SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19). This important approval provides a faster, easier and highly accurate method for detection of COVID-19. This is the first UNT-sourced intellectual property to receive FDA approval, marking a significant milestone for UNT as a Tier One research university.

The University of North Texas is partnering with leading experiential education company Podium Education to provide undergraduate students with in-demand skills for the modern workforce. Students who enroll in the UNT Global Tech Experience will collaborate with students from around the world on applied projects from companies such as Netflix, Spotify, and AirBnB.

Like many manufacturers, we're experiencing unavoidable disruptions to our supply chain coupled with increased demand for our best-in-class outdoor gear from folks looking for new socially distanced adventures. Unfortunately, that's left some of our most popular products out of stock, which we're genuinely bummed about. We're doing everything we can to keep production moving, but some supply issues are simply beyond our control. If there's a particular product that you're really after, we encourage you to take these approaches:

We've tried to keep our local stores supplied as best as possible. On every product page we have a "Find in Store" button for local inventory and a "Find Online" option for our online partners. If we're out of stock, it's worth a check to see if they have it.

To disinfect your Platypus hydration system, fill it with a solution of unscented household bleach and water, using a concentration of 2-5 drops per liter of water. Close and swirl for 10 seconds. Squeeze the bite valve to flush the hose and valve, being careful to keep the valve opening over the sink. Leave filled overnight. Dump solution and rinse hydration system (including hose and bite valve) three times with hot water, then air dry.

Also, even if you are using the Bite Valve & Drink Tube Insulator, it still helps to keep as much of the drinking tube covered as possible, such as routing it inside a pack, strap, or jacket. You can also start off the day with warm or hot water in the reservoir, packing any extra clothing layers around it.

The depth to the water table can change (rise or fall) depending on the time of year. During the late winter and spring when accumulated snow starts to melt and spring rainfall is plentiful, water on the surface infiltrates into the ground and the water table rises. When water-loving plants start to grow again in the spring and precipitation gives way to hot, dry summers, the water table falls because of evapotranspiration.

The most reliable method of obtaining the depth to the water table at any given time is to measure the water level in a shallow well with a tape. If no wells are available, surface geophysical methods can sometimes be used, depending on surface accessibility for placing electric or acoustic probes.

Groundwater, which is in aquifers below the surface of the Earth, is one of the Nation's most important natural resources. Groundwater is the source of about 37 percent of the water that county and city water departments supply to households and businesses (public supply). It provides drinking water for more than 90 percent of the rural population who do not get their water delivered to them from...

Contact your county or state health department, check with your State Certification Officer, or use this EPA website for a list of state certified laboratories in your area that do water testing. The cost will vary, depending on the laboratory and the test(s), but people usually consider the cost to be reasonable. Also try using your browser's search engine to do a search on "well owner resources"...

A confined aquifer is an aquifer below the land surface that is saturated with water. Layers of impermeable material are both above and below the aquifer, causing it to be under pressure so that when the aquifer is penetrated by a well, the water will rise above the top of the aquifer. A water table--or unconfined--aquifer is an aquifer whose upper water surface (water table) is at atmospheric...

This Ground Water Atlas of the United States is a series of USGS publications that describe the location, the extent, and the geologic and hydrologic characteristics of the important aquifers of the Nation. The series consists of 13 chapters that describe the regional groundwater resources that collectively cover 50 States, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Learn more: Principal Aquifers...

Water drawn from a well was once precipitation that fell onto Earth's surface. It seeped into the ground and, over time, occupied the porous space in some subsurface material. Big particles that are in surface streams, such as leaf chunks, will not be seen in groundwater. So, yes, big particles are filtered out by the ground, along with some minerals and chemicals that are too small to see. But...
