St. Patrick's Day CelebrationFor more than 40 years, this parade has wound through downtown in celebration of the beloved Irish holiday. The parade is bookended by Topeka IrishFest, which includes a fun run, Irish food, live music and more.
In 2007, Dutch Bros launched its first annual Dutch Luv day as a canned food drive. In 2016, Dutch Luv pivoted into a giveback day in which $1 from each drink sold across all Dutch Bros shops is donated to local food organizations. This way we could ensure we were making the most impact possible! One day a year to do some massive good!
Santa Land is a fun and festive annual event hosted by the University of Minnesota-Crookston. Free and open to the public, the event features various student clubs and organizations from UMC who admirably put together a variety of holiday activities, crafts, and prizes for all children in the Crookston area. There will also be photos with Santa Clause, Mrs. Claus, and their elves. Along with the games and festivities, cookies and hot chocolate will be served.
As summer cools down, the Village of Hatch heats up with the annual two-day Hatch Chile Festival celebration of its world-famous crop, attracting more than 30,000 visitors from all over the United States. Festival goers can sample famed chile recipes, watch the crowning of the chile festival queen, join in a chile ristra contest or just sit back and enjoy artisans, parades, food, carnivals, contest, music and much more. Brought to you by the Hatch Valley Chamber of Commerce, the event takes place at the Hatch Municipal Airport, one mile east of town on State Road 26. Admission is $10 per car.
Sample newly released wines along with the unfinished barrel and tank wines from 34 wineries at this annual event in the Temecula Valley wine country. Your ticket includes a one-time visit to each participating winery, and tastings typically include light bites as well.
Beer nerds will delight in these events at breweries around San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area, including Silicon Valley and the East Bay. Choose from activities that typically include release parties, trivia nights, and food pairings.
The drive, which this year will be the seventh of its type, is also supported by local high schools from McKinleyville to Fortuna, where students have organized fundraisers and food donation initiatives to help support the drive. They will drop off their stockpile of food and monetary donations Thursday.
Festival at arts center: The free 27th annual Día de los Muertos festival at the California Center for the Arts Museum, 340 N. Escondido Blvd., is from 3 to 8 p.m. Nov. 1 with dance performances and community altars outside to honor the memory of loved ones along with live music, handmade artisan vendors, food trucks and drinks. The festival features dance performances by the Aztec dance group Xinachtli and Tierra Caliente Academy of Arts. Día de los Muertos downtown: The 21st annual event is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 23 next to City Hall and around the Oceanside Civic Center and Pier View Way. Highlights include community and family altars built in memory of loved ones with marigolds from Mellano Flowers and traditional music and dancing of the Mexican culture, along with chalk cemetery and kids crafts and activities. There will be a Catrina Contest at 2 p.m., food, shopping and a car show with trunk altars sponsored by the Por Siempre Car Club, along with lowrider bicycles on display. Entertainment includes capulli, ballet folklorico and rubios dancers and Danza de los Diablos. The bookmobile will offer arts projects for kids. Free admission.
